Barnes guide Houston Dynamo win over LA Galaxy
Played at BBVA Compass Stadium, Texas, 17th May 2014
The Houston Dynamo moved to 3rd position in the Eastern Conference and extended LA Galaxy winless streak to four as they beaten the Galaxy 1-0 at BBVA Compass Stadium.
The Galaxy outshot, out-passed, and out-possessed the Houston Dynamo, but Tally Hall was equivalent to the task with four saves and Houston put a tick in the only important statistical column in the 61st minute.
Giles Barnes scored the only goal of the match, capitalizing on an LA tragedy. Mark Sherrod's dogged work paid off when he intercept a throw-in to Galaxy keeper Jaime Penedo. With Barnes following up, Sherrod made the easy pass and the he picked his corner to put his team up 1-0.
Houston moved to 6-5-2 on the season, while LA limps along with a disappointing 2-4-3 record.

Eddie Johnson just a few days removed from knowledge of his exclusion from the US National Team’s provisional World Cup. Scored his first goal of this season on Saturday night, a late strike that earned United a 1-1 draw against the Montreal Impact in front 14,106 at RFK Stadium.
Both teams struggle to get in gear during an unexciting first half.
D.C. did slight with the handful of scoring chances they generated, though several players - most notably United forward Fabian Espindola - played with keenness and pushed to create a small crop of opportunities. United came nearby to scoring in the 15th minute, when Espindola’s low, pacy cross took a deflection and caromed off Impact center back Wandrille Lefevre’s head, nearly handing D.C. an own goal.
